Marshall T. Minton

Attorney

Marshall Minton is Special Counsel, assisting clients with estate planning, tax planning and probate matters. She practices out of the Columbia office.

In addition to estate planning, Marshall’s legal career includes serving as Counsel for Litigation with the SC Department of Revenue, representing clients in probate litigation, assisting clients with business planning and tax planning, helping clients navigate incapacity issues of their loved ones, as well as, advising on bank operations and corporate trustee matters. Each of these areas of experience allows Marshall to provide a wealth of knowledge in many different aspects of her client’s estate plan.

Marshall’s passion for estate planning began while she was a student as Clemson University. She majored in Financial Management with an emphasis in financial planning. While at Clemson, she received a copy of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s Last Will and Testament. After reading this document, she realized how wonderful it is that we can plan during our lifetimes to make sure that the things that are important to us are taken care of after we are gone. After Clemson, she attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she continued to focus her education on estate planning. After receiving her law degree, she went on to receive a LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

In addition to planning for her clients, Marshall also loves to plan at home. From to-do lists, to grocery lists, to reading lists, Marshall always has a plan. This helps her juggle her work in the community and her family at home. Marshall was a member of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2013 and served as Chair of the Leadership Columbia Advisory Board during the 2017-2018 board year. She was active with the Cinderella Project for many years, serving as state chair from 2019-2021. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Five Points, serving as Rotary President during the 2020-2021 year. She is a member of the Junior League of Columbia, currently serving as Holiday Market Treasurer. She is also a member of the Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina Midlands District Board. She was a member of The State Newspaper’s 20 under 40 class for 2017. Also in 2017, she was one of the top ten finalists for Columbia Magazine’s Inaugural Young Professional of the Year Award.

While her clients and the community are important to her, the most important things in Marshall’s life are her husband Zach and her two children.
